VINCI selects SITA for Brazilian airports

SITA has been chosen by the Amazon Airport Concessionaire, which operates seven airports as part of the VINCI Airports Network, to implement the SITA Airport Management solution at Manaus Airport; Porto Velho Airport; Rio Branco Airport; Boa Vista Airport; Cruzeiro do Sul Airport; Tabatinga Airport; and Tefé Airport. In addition, the airport group has renewed an ongoing agreement with SITA to continue providing the same service at Salvador Bahia Airport. The systems will be available to passengers starting from the second half of this year.

SITA Airport Management is a multi-airport solution that helps airport managers and airlines efficiently manage flight operations, optimize fixed and mobile resources, such as check-in counters, baggage reclaim carousels, and manage mobile resources, meaning the staff that works during the aircraft turnaround at the airport. The solution also facilitates collaborative decision making. The technology can enable a reduction in fuel consumption by reducing the amount of time the aircraft’s engines are running, limiting idling.

The airports will also incorporate the “SITA Operations Manager,” which stores all data related to flight operations and applies business rules according to airport operational procedures; “SITA Fixed Resource Manager,” which optimizes the usage of resources by the airport and the flight operations; and “SITA Information Display System” modules into the solution, which provide passengers with accurate and timely data on flights through fully customizable displays throughout the airport.

By combining these technologies, the 8 airports in the VINCI Airports network in Brazil will be able to consolidate operational data from all the airports under its management in Brazil, monitoring key performance indicators for terminal operations and for the business, ensuring that they meet the quality-of-service objectives for passengers. In addition, the data can be shared with the group’s entire network, unlocking external growth for the concessionaire responsible for the Amazon airports.

Shawn Gregor, SITA’s President for the Americas, said: “Brazilian airports are seeing an increasing demand in air traffic, which is why optimizing operations is more important now than ever to ensure the industry can keep up. Solutions like SITA Airport Management can help unlock the operational capabilities of airports across the country, region and on a global scale. We are excited to be expanding our partnership with VINCI Airports, which is responsible for operating more than 70 airports in 14 countries around the world.”

Benefits of multi-airport solutions

SITA’s multi-airport solutions reduce operating costs at airports through optimized and simplified management of airport routines, both in the long term and in day-to-day operations. They can also increase airport revenue streams, improve the performance of aircraft ground operations and increase airline and passenger satisfaction. Thanks to the greater availability, quality and timeliness of data, airports will develop skills in resolving unplanned operational problems, avoiding inaccuracies in their most critical internal processes, such as invoicing services to commercial partners.

“We are very pleased to continue and expand our partnership with SITA for the use of these technologies. 2024 has been a positive year of growth, recovery and consolidation of advances in the post-pandemic scenario. In this brand new time, more than ever, the tools offered by this company will be of great use to us in making decisions that will continue to lead us down a path of success.  It will be very exciting to start using these solutions at the airports we manage in the Brazilian Amazon area,” says Julio Ribas, CEO of VINCI Airports in Brazil.
