Jettainer has appointed Arnd Trapp (pictured above) as its new IT director.

In the role, Trapp will continue to develop the unit load device (ULD) management firm’s software landscape JettWare, the basis for the intelligent management of pallets and containers.

He will particularly focus on tracking and tracing for airfreight ULDs and introducing technical innovations in the field of mobile IT solutions.

The graduate computer scientist has been associated with the airfreight sector for more than 20 years.

During this time he has held various management positions within the Lufthansa Group. Jettainer is a subsidiary of Lufthansa Cargo.

One of his tasks will be the continuation of Jettainer’s cooperation with the University of Cologne. This involves developing a self-learning software solution, which will serve the experts at Jettainer as an aid to decision-making in the future.

He will also press ahead with the ongoing development work on the mobile arm of JettWare, the JettApp application, which is being used at airports.

Jettainer managing director, Carsten Hernig, says: “We’ve found a competent manager in Arnd Trapp, who brings many years of experience in process and information management and an extensive knowledge of the aviation sector.

“This will enable us to continuously improve our services for our growing customer base.

Jettainer is responsible for the management, steering, positioning, repair and maintenance of a fleet of about 90,000 ULD units, for 19 airlines.
