Top 10 stories on ACW Digital in 2018

The top 10 most-read Air Cargo Week digital articles in 2018 reflect both exciting and mundane news stories of the year.

The 10 most-read stories accounted for some 7,500 readers over the 12 months. The most read was the story in August covering the untimely death of Mark Whitehead, just weeks after retirement from his role at HACTL. A second story about his retirement, posted on January 17, worked to bookend the top 10 listings in 2018.

An Air Cargo Week exclusive, broken before the rest of the airfreight media covered it, was the acquisition by Naxicap Partners of Paris-based GSA ECS Group. This was the year’s sixth most popular story.

At eighth, ACW digital reported on November 1 that IATA was moving to make the e-AWB (electronic Airway Bill) the default for shipments from January 1, 2019. This announcement came exactly one month to the day that Air Cargo Week carried a front page Open Letter to the Association concerning the slow industry-wide adoption of the standard.

James Graham, editor, Air Cargo Week said: “While these stories are the most read, all stories we carry are read by those in the airfreight industry who want to keep abreast of what is happening daily by the wider industry.

“The editorial staff at ACW will continue this year, as they have every year since the digital news service was launched, to provide readers with up-to-the minute news.”
