Another strong month for Changi with 10.2% cargo growth

Changi Airport has had another strong month with 10.2 per cent year-on-year growth in March to 188,600 tonnes.

Volumes have grown 6.2 per cent in the first three months to 494,200 tonnes, with a small 0.5 per cent increase in January to 158,700 tonnes, while February was up 7.9 per cent year-on-year to 146,900 tonnes.

A number of airlines have increased services as part of the Northern Summer 2017 season, with Singapore Airlines adding a fourth weekly flight to Ahmedabad, increasing Bangkok services to 42 a week and Ho Chi Minh City to 19 a week.

SilkAir has increased Phuket services to 35 a week and Myanmar National Airlines is now operating 14 flights a week to Yangon.

Norwegian has also announced its intention to launch Gatwick – Changi services on 28 September with four flights a week, to be increased to five for the Northern Winter Season, using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
