Rhenus Ireland announces sustainable warehouse expansion

Rhenus Ireland has confirmed it has officially expanded the Rhenus Parkmore campus in Galway, Ireland, with the addition of a new BREEAM certified warehouse. The newly built facility, which had a construction lead time of 17 months, effectively doubles the capacity of Rhenus Parkmore to an impressive 20,000 square metres.

As part of Rhenus Ireland’s strategy to deliver supply chain excellence, the new warehouse on the west coast of Ireland will expand the services and solutions available to both regional and foreign direct investment customers in Ireland, while serving the growing MedTech and pharmaceutical sectors. The expansion follows Rhenus Ireland’s acquisition of Galway-based ISO-registered and AEO-certified business Source & Supply Logistics in 2021.

The total warehouse space spans 9,284 square metres, providing accommodation for 14,000 pallets. Additionally, a flexible mezzanine space of 4,000 square metres is available for customised configurations, tailored to clients’ specific requirements.

Ricky Conneely from IDA Ireland (Ireland’s Investment Promotion & Development Agency), alongside the Deputy Mayor of Galway City, Councillor Donal Lyons, attended the official opening ceremony at the Rhenus Parkmore facility on Wednesday, 24 January.

The expanding of the Rhenus Parkmore campus will build on our existing customer relationships and provide the opportunity to grow new ones. This facility is part of our ongoing development plan to increase our logistics capacity for customers in Ireland.”

Dr Stephan Peters, member of the management board of the Rhenus Group, said: “Today’s opening of this warehouse will allow Rhenus Ireland to unlock new opportunities and develop partnerships with local businesses to provide world-class logistics and supply chain solutions. We are excited to further develop our capacity and to connect our Irish customers more closely with Europe and the world.”
