New president and board members elected by FIATA

FIATA elected a new president and an extended board for the next two years at its general meeting in Kuala Lumpur last week.

The FIATA World Congress saw over 1,000 delegates from 77 countries and on the day after the FIATA General Meeting took place – Transfreight Corporation chief executive officer, Babar Badat from Pakistan was elected president.

He succeeds Zhao Huxiang, from China, who will now serve as immediate past president for the next two years.

Robert Voltmann, from the US, has been re-elected secretary general and Francesco Parisi, from Italy, was elected treasurer.

The three positions of senior vice president went to Ivan Petrov of Bulgaria and Basil Pietersen of South Africa, who were both were re-elected, and Turgut Erkeskin of Turkey, who joined the presidency as a new member.

FIATA says the new presidency represents all the four regions of the FIATA global constituency.
