A Japan Airlines plane caught fire as it landed at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport on Tuesday evening.
The aircraft, JAL516, took off from New Chitose Airport (CTS) at 16:22 JST before landing at Haneda (HND) at 17:47 JST.

Footage shows the aircraft moments before a fireball explodes, setting fire to A350 and the surrounding runway. Videos later showed fire and smoke billowing out of the aircraft’s windows.

Japan’s Nippon TV has reported that the plane might have collided with a Coast Guard aircraft.
Despite the incident, all 379 passengers and crew were evacuated from the aircraft, the airline told Japanese media outlets.
“We are currently assessing the extent of the damage,” the airline said, according to Japanese broadcaster NHK.
