Singapore Changi Airport registered a 10.7 per cent increase in airfreight throughput to 180,590 tonnes in August, up on the 163,100 tonnes in the same month in 2016.

In the first eight months of 2017, the gateway has handled 1.37 million tonnes, a 7.9 per cent rise on the same period last year.

Changi has grown its freight volumes in every month this year and August is the fourth time this year it has posted a double-digit tonnage increase.

Last year, Changi handled 1.97 million tonnes of cargo.

As at 1 September 2017, more than 100 airlines operate at Changi, connecting Singapore to 380 cities in about 90 countries and territories worldwide.

More than 7,000 weekly scheduled flights, an aircraft takes off or lands at Changi roughly once every 90 seconds.
