Delta Air Lines and Viva Air place Airbus orders

Delta Air Lines has placed an order for 10 more Airbus A321ceo aircraft and Viva Air signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for 50 A320s at the Paris Air Show.

Delta’s order follows on from it signing for 30 incremental A321ceo last month and it now has ordered a total of 122 A321s.

Delta’s senior vice president for supply chain management and fleet, Greg May says: “Its excellent operating economics and customer capacity also make it a great fit for our US domestic network.”

Latin American carrier Viva Air, owned by Irelandia Aviation, signed an MoU with Airbus for 50 A320 Family aircraft, comprising of 35 A320neo and 15 A320ceo.

The agreement paves the way for the group’s airlines VivaColombia and Viva Air Peru to base its fleet renewal and network growth on the A320 Family.

VivaColombia chief executive officer and founder, William Shaw says: “This new fleet will allow us to continue leading the development of the low cost model throughout Latin America.”

Viva Air recently launched Viva Air Peru, the sister airline of VivaColombia. Medellin-based VivaColombia operates nine A320 aircraft and Lima-based Viva Air Peru currently operates two.
