Delta Air Lines is to add 20 new Boeing 737-900 Extended Ranges (ER) to its fleet, as well as up to 20 Embraer 190s.

The airline says the additional 737-900ERs will bring its total fleet to 120 aircraft by 2019. It says the E190 order offers ‘more compelling economics’ than its previously cancelled ordered.

Delta senior vice president for supply chain management, Greg May says: “This aircraft order is another example of Delta’s unique fleet strategy to deploy a mix of new and used aircraft, maintain low capital costs, and leverage significant capacity flexibility to produce superior returns for our shareholders.”
