Changi Airport to pursue IATA CEIV Fresh certificate

Changi Airport Group will work with other parties in Singapore to earn the first IATA CEIV Fresh certificate in Southeast Asia by April 2020.

The airport operator will work with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, Enterprise Singapore and Workforce Singapore to support the air cargo community with dnata Singapore and Singapore Airlines as pioneer members.

The four parties will co-fund certification costs, with SAAA@Singapore acting as programme manager.

Perishable cargo represents about 13% of Changi’s exports and imports, and is one of the key drivers of the airport’s growth in recent years.

The pioneers of IATA CEIV Pharma in the Pharma@Changi initiative have renewed their commitment for the next two years to improve pharmaceutical handling.

The community has welcomed Kuehne + Nagel Singapore as the newest member of Pharma@Changi.

Last month, Changi Airport Group organised the inaugural digital air cargo design sprint workshop involving 30 companies.

The Changi Cargo DiGi-CO Workshop enabled key stakeholders from the local air cargo community to discuss issues facing the industry and discuss solutions to overcome the challenges and capture new opportunities.

Lim Ching Kiat, Changi Airport Group managing director of air hub development says: “Although the air cargo industry has slowed down globally, it is now even more important for the Changi air cargo community to be connected and build a stronger partnership through collaboration. As a community, we can leverage on synergies and co-create new solutions. This will enable the Singapore air cargo hub to strengthen our competitive edge and better serve our customers globally.”
