Cargo and revenue rises for Swissport in 2017

Swissport handled 4.7 million tonnes of cargo in 2017, up 8.7 per cent on 2016 with revenue also growing at a fast pace.

The ground service provider reported that revenue increased by 6.4 per cent to 3.1 billion Swiss francs (CHF), with cargo revenue growing 9.2 per cent to CHF600 million, with the ground handling segment up 5.7 per cent to CHF2.5 billion.

Swissport International president and chief executive officer, Eric Born says: “2017 was another successful year for Swissport. We achieved our revenue and profitability targets and grew organically through the conclusion of new client contracts and market entries; most recently in Saudi Arabia and Oman.

With the acquisition of Aerocare this month, we also set the strategic foundation for future growth in the Asia Pacific region.”

The acquisition of Aerocare will add 36 airports to the Swissport network across Australia and New Zealand.
