Breaking: Military Boeing 707 crashes in Iran

A Boeing 707 cargo aircraft belonging to the Iranian army has crashed at Fath Airport in Karaj, killing 15 people with one survivor.

According to Fars New Agency, the aircraft was importing meat from Kyrgyzstan and supposed to land at Payam International Airport but mistakenly attempted to land at Fath Airport.

The aircraft is reported to have touched down at a smaller airport not fit for larger aircraft, skidding off the runway and crashing into a wall separating the air field from a residential neighbourhood.

One person, a flight engineer survived and was taken to hospital, and the black box voice recorders have been found at the crash site, according to local media reports.

Fath Airport in Karaj is 25 miles west of Tehran, located in the province of Alborz, and belongs to the Revolutionary Guards Corps.
