Alaska to launch multiple services to Newark

Alaska Airlines is to add multiple new services to the New York area with services from Portland, San Diego, San Jose and Seattle to Newark Liberty International Airport.

All the flights will be daily using Boeing 737s, with the Portland – Newark service starting on 10 November, followed by San Diego – Newark on 21 November. The other new services will start in 2017, with San Jose – Newark on 12 May and Seattle – Newark on 14 May. The San Jose service is the first between the two cities and the Seattle will be the third daily service to Newark.

Alaska Airlines’ vice president of capacity planning, John Kirby says: “We thank the Federal Aviation Administration, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for their efforts to increase competition in the New York metro area. Since 2015, Alaska has launched 28 new routes from our West Coast hubs and focus cities.”
