Air cargo with a heartbeat

Qatar Airways Cargo CEIV Live Animals

An IATA (International Air Transport Association) free webinar on CEIV Live Animals, moderated by James Graham, Air Cargo Week’s editor, is to be staged on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 15:00 (CEST) / 13:00 UTC.

The global event is a good opportunity for those involved in the professional handling of animals and livestock. Titled: “How you can contribute to ensuring animal safety and welfare,” the webinar has been developed to “improve and harmonise standards related to live animal transport by air,” says IATA.

Transporting live animals by air is a complex and highly planned operation as many in airfreight know, which involves the entire air cargo supply chain in ensuring safe and humane transport conditions for animals.

IATA’s Center of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) for Live Animals Logistics supports the industry in improving its competency, infrastructure, quality management systems and level of professionalism when handling and transporting live animals. It assures that certified companies are reliable partners complying with the IATA Live Animals Regulations (LAR) and ensuring animal welfare.

“Not sure where to start? Join this ‘must-attend’ free webinar!” says IATA.

Audience participants will learn about

  • The current challenges and trends in handling and shipping live animals
  • The IATA Live Animals Regulations and the CEIV Live Animals initiative
  • The key benefits that the CEIV Live Animals programme can bring to your organisation, from improved animal welfare through quality and risk management to enhanced standardisation in transportation of live animals
  • The simple three-step process to achieve CEIV Live Animals certification, from validation to certification

Star-studded speakers

A trio of industry specialists will be moderated by James Graham for the jour-long webinar.

The first is Andrea Gruber, IATA Head of Special Cargo. She is joined Maria Jitomirski, IATA Head of Special Cargo Project Manager CEIV Live Animals, and Tristan Bradfield, deputy manager at Heathrow Animal Reception Centre (CEIV certified entity).
