Silkway West to open weekly flights to Oslo Airport

Avinor Oslo Airport has gained another route to export salmon with Silkway West Airlines launching weekly flights from Friday 27 September.

The route will be operated by a Boeing 747-400F, connecting the Norwegian capital with onward connections to the Far East via Baku, Azerbaijan.

At Baku’s Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the Silkway Group operates a state-of-the-art air cargo centre, which includes modern temperature controlled and perishable facilities.

Riad Fataliyev, commercial director Europe at Silkway says: “We are excited to offer the Norwegian seafood industry increased connections through our global air cargo hub in Baku. Silkway has been flying Norwegian seafood for many years through other European gateways, and we are now very pleased to finally add Oslo to our global network.”

Martin Langaas, director of cargo at Avinor says: “Silkway is with their new route recognising Oslo Airport as the most significant cargo hub in Northern Europe.”
