Emirates adds Fort Lauderdale to US network

Emirates has started flying to its 11th US destination with daily Boeing 777-200LR flights to Fort Lauderdale in Florida.

The flight offers up to 15 tonnes of bellyhold cargo capacity in and out of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and is the first scheduled service from the Middle East to Fort Lauderdale.

Emirates divisional senior vice president commercial operations West, Hubert Frach says: “Our new daily service to Fort Lauderdale will significantly enhance South Florida’s commercial and cultural connections. Emirates is proud to connect people across the globe and today’s inaugural flight illustrates the reach of our global network and the potential tourism and trade opportunities of our daily service.”

Fort Lauderdale Airport chief executive officer and director of aviation, Mark Gale adds: “With an estimated annual economic impact to our region of more than $100 million and approximately one thousand new jobs as a direct and indirect result of Emirates arrival, we are confident this new service will mark the beginning of many more great things to come.”

Flight number EK213 will leave Dubai International Airport at 03.30h, arriving in Fort Lauderdale at 10.55h, with the return flight leaving at 20.20h and landing back in Dubai at 19.40h the next day.

Emirates says it has transported 740,000 tonnes of goods between the US and Dubai since 2004, carrying 650 tonnes of US exports a week.

Fort Lauderdale is Emirates’ 11th US destination after Orlando, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Dallas, Houston, Washington and New York.
